I just finished reading the 2 newest books of this series. When I was reading the newest one titled Come rain or come shine - I actually cried at some parts - it is a beautiful story. Highly recommend anyone who hasn't read this series start to read it and those who are familiar - get the 2 newest. I hope and pray she doesn't stop writing this series.

Re: The Father Tim series books

I am about half way through my second reading of Come Rain or Come Shine.  I read it last week in one day so I am going to read again more slowly.  I love these books so much!!!

I have all of the Mitford series and I read over and over to get that warm feeling when other books leave me cold.

Could you name a book in the series or the author?

Jan Karon is the author.

Her first series with Father Tim was the Mitford series (9 books)

then The Father Tim Series

You will not regret starting at the beginning and work through to the present.

Thank you. I'm compulsive about series books and always start at the beginning. Smiley Happy

Re: The Father Tim series books

When we moved to Florida I had the entire Mitford and Father Tim series of books. I donated them to the our communities brand new start up library. They were extremely grateful to get them.

I also had the complete Cedar Cove series, plus some other Cedar cove stories like the ones about the knitting store that I just donated last summer.

Both Debbie Macomber and Jan Karon are expert at really taking you away to the scene of the story  and making you love that place.

If someone wants to read the Mitford/Father Tim books you often see them at the second hand bookstores. I usually either buy my books electronically from Amazon or from the used book store.

Have you tried the Cape Light series by Thomas Kinkade?  There are about 12 and the author who wrote with him before he passed, Katherine Spencer is keeping the series going.  If you liked Mitford you would love these too.

Re: The Father Tim series books

Well you could but Mitford starts with Dooley at 11 years old and in Come Rain and Come Shine is his graduation from graduate school and other grown up ventures.  It does go back some but the one where Father Tim and his wife go to Ireland I did not care too much for because there was not enough "Mitford" in it.

It would all still be a good read but if you have the time read the last couple of Mitford books to catch up.  Enjoy!!!!!!!

Re: The Father Tim series books

I haven't gotten the last couple of books, but yes, anyone who hasn't read these books, they are truly wonderful.  You won't be disappointed.  I would definitely start at the beginning. I would suggest going on-line and looking up this writer and they will have a complete list of the books and the order of them.  You will grow to love all the characters and they will feel like family and friends to you.  I have seldom, if ever, found a series that I have loved so much and become so enamoured of the storylines and the characters.  My other favorite author and weaver of tales was Maeve Binchy.  I mourn the loss of this wonderful and lovely lady and writer.
