I just finished this book a few days ago.  What a ride.  What a wonderful writer Dumas was,and to think he died penniless.

Re: The Count of Monte Cristo

I read that book when I was in Junior High School.  The movies that followed never did the book justice.

He was an amazing storyteller. I didn't know that he also wrote books about Robin Hood, but he has at least two about Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves.

That's why it's a classic.  Great story.

Doesn't it make you want to try other classics?

I never read this book. Another classic to put on my list.

I read it about a year ago. Hard to find another as good. He is definitely a member of an elite group of writers.

Re: The Count of Monte Cristo

I have never read the book. This thread reminded me how much I enjoyed the movie. I am going to place on my TBR list.
