Has anyone read or are planning to read The Breakdown by B. A. Paris, the author of Behind Closed Doors? It was released July 18th.

I have it in my wishlist but reviews are all over the place. I didn't love Behind Closed Doors but I liked it enough. Trying to decide if I want to make a stab at another one of her books.

I read this book thanks to the ARC I won on Goodreads.  It's not usually my type of book but I enjoyed it much more than her first one Behind Closed Doors which definitely isn't my type of book.

Just finished. I knew the ending by page 30. Not a new story. Read this type of story many times. Not worth reading. I am reading something now that I think is very good....Try Not to Breathe by Holly Seddon.

I agree with Jewel22, it was very predictable.   I am going to read the book that you suggested.

Thanks for the feedback. Most of the reviewers on Good Reads mentioned they figured it out by page 50. So, I dunno. I'll keep it in mind.

I truly loved this book!  If you liked her first one, you will love THE BREAKDOWN.  I also loved the fact it was a fast read as well.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained...!

@Janey2 The Breakdown is on my list to read, but the book that you mentioned sounds really good, and I am going to look for that one first!

I just started listening to this book on Audible and I can tell it's going to be tiresome getting through the next 7 1/2 hours that I have left. I will trudge through, as Audible credits don't come cheap. But I will not read anything more from this author.

There are some authors that are clearly superior writers even if you don't like their works. Some who are great storytellers even when you cringe at their obvious manipulations. And, then there's this author, who really is neither. I'm finishing because I paid for it, not because I need to know what happens next. Maybe I'll be surprised?

Speaking of B.A. Paris, I just saw on Goodreads that she has another book coming out in Feb. 2018 entitled Bring Me Back.

Here is the plot for those interested.  I think I'll be reading this one too.

BRING ME BACK

A small Russian doll. Innocent. Innocuous.

But suddenly finding the dolls left in and near the house is torture to Finn and his wife.

It's a sign that Finn's girlfriend, Layla, who disappeared fourteen years earlier, is still alive. And so the happiness he has managed to find with Layla's sister, Ellen, is brought into question. He loves Ellen - but does he love her as much as he once loved Layla? If Layla came back, could he fall in love with her all over again? Could he love her enough to leave Ellen for her?
