I read The Mostly True Story of Tanner and Louise by Colleen Oakley. 84 year old Louise breaks her hip and needs a caregiver, so enter 21 year old Tanner. The unlikely pair go on a road trip, or is to run from the law? A charming tale with a lot of humor. I enjoyed it.

I highly recommend Out of Nowhere, the newest book by Sandra Brown. This is a contemporary romantic thriller. It involves a mass shooting and that could be a topic some readers may choose to avoid. But the I think the author handled it well. I liked the pace, the amount of action, and the smart characters in this book.

Out of Nowhere sounds like a book that I would enjoy reading. I have put in a request for it. I am number 6 of 6 so I should have it in a week or two.

You might want to try Shelter in Place by Nora Roberts. I would classify it the same, as a Contemporary Romantic Thriller. It also involves a mass shooting.

I have been busy since July, and in a bit of a reading slump. I started to read a book by James Patterson called The Summer House. This was not a library book so there was no rush to read it. I put it aside this past week. I have two books home from the library that I need to get through since my renewals are dwindling.

I am currently reading The Fifth Witness by Michael Connelly. I hope to have it wrapped up sometime this week.

Yes, I recommend that one, too. I went back to read what we both said about it in 2018. The timeline in Out of Nowhere is short whereas in Shelter in Place the characters are followed for several years.The tone of both books is similar.

I like Nora Roberts when she is not writing about the supernatural.

I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t had much time to read. But here’s my most recent reads:

PAYBACK IN DEATH by J. D. Robb (love the In Death series)
HAPPINESS by Danielle Steel (not one of her best - just okay)
THE DISCREET CHARM OF THE BIG BAD WOLF by Alexander McCall Smith (good, but the Swedish detective series is not my favorite series of his.)

@sandy53 Out of Nowhere had an interesting premise. This book left me thinking about what I would have done if I was the main female character. ( can't say more as do not want to give away storyline).

I would have been a basket case. She treated others with so much grace and favor. She was able to open herself up whereas many people would have closed themselves off. Her desire for justice is what drove her.

One of the things that makes a book a good one is that it makes us think like this one does.

The Spare Room, by Andrea Bartz. In the midst of the quarantine Kelly and her live in fiance and boyfriend of five years hit a rough patch and he wants to put a brake on the wedding plans. Kelly takes this to mean he wants to cancel the wedding.

In the three weeks prior to this showdown Kelly as reunited over Instagram a classmate, not a friend, from high school. This woman is a bestselling author and as a mansion in Virginia with her husband. Kelly loses her job and with her personal life in shambles she takes the three week old rekindled "friend" up on her offer to come stay in their Spare Room.

Kelly soon finds herself attracted to both her hosts so when offers are made Kelly responds favorably. Meanwhile she discovers the neighborhood does not like the couple and another woman as gone missing only days before Kelly arrives.

Currently reading The Day the World Came to Town by Jim DeFede about the planes having to land in Gander, Newfoundland on 9/11/2001. I read the first 90 pages yesterday, so engrossed in the stories and the incredible hearts of the people of Canada who stepped in to take care of the airplane occupants when America's airspace was suspended. So many emotions, I've cried and felt my heart swell a few times over. What selfless acts these people provided to the weary and scared travelers.
