Thank you so much! These sound like wonderful titles - off to research now.

I recommend The Chosen by Chaim Potok. His other books are very good, too.
I also like the Rita Lazarus and Peter Decker mystery series by Faye Kellerman. The first one in the series is The Ritual Bath and is very good.

I adore The Chosen and the movie, too. My club read this one a few years ago and it was a stimulating discussion. I found the wedding dance on Youtube and played it for them.
For most of them, it was their first experience with Hassidism. I grew up in NYC, and though I'm not Jewish, the book had a lot of meaning to me through learning more about them.

I'm searching for a light hearted book, not a Holocaust novel. Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance.
That's my favorite and I don't read Holocaust theme. Too depressing.
A few of mine are:
The Wartime Sisters by Lynda Cohen Loigman
The Two-Family House - Lynda Cohen Loigman
Not Our Kind - Kitty Zeldis
Modern Girls - Jennifer S. Brown
@PilatesLover- I agree with all of @SWEET's selections. I'd add
The Inn at Lake Devine by Elinor Lipman. There are many others but they are all holocaust books or refer to the holocaust. I was looking for books without that subject matter. If you need more, just let me know!

I loved The Inn At The Lake Devine. I just forgot about it. LOL

@Janey2 wrote:@SWEETBy far my favorite book on this list is All I Know and Love. I also liked Hush by Eisher Chayil but did not include it as the topic is very serious.
@Janey2- I also read All I Know and Love, and noticed I gave it five stars on Goodreads. It was excellent. I've read almost all the Naomi Ragen books, and Hush was on my list and I'll be reading that one soon.
Thank you for sharing your list of books!

The Red Tent. By Anita Diamant
It was also made into a movie. Loads of reviews of this book so you can see if it interests you before picking it up. I found it a good read that kept me intrigued and enhanced my sense of my heritage.
@gizmogal- hi, I tried several times to get into The Red Tent but I just can't. I finally took it off my list, the same as I did with The Book Thief. There are certain books I just can't read, for whatever reason. I won't be trying again, as there are so many more books out there that I can read without trying very hard.

I loved The Red Tent. I had no desire to read The Book Thief but found it at my Free Little Library and still have to read it. It's well worn so it's been read a lot!
