Which image of Nancy Drew do you remember the most?
‎04-19-2018 02:30 PM
Right off hand the light blue dress and gold dress. My older sister collected Nancy Drew and I collected The Bobbsey Twins.

bottom right from the 4 photos you provided, but i remember her most this way:
these were my all time favorite books growing up. i remember always begging my mom to buy me the newest one whenever i saw one that i did not have. i still have my entire collection. i also picked up some from yard sales that just had blue tweed covers.....no pictures. those are pretty old.

Yes, the ND in the blue dress and maybe the gold dress. I don't think I actually owned any of the books, but I got them from friends or the library.

@sunshine45 I had every single one of the original blue books. In one of my moves, somehow I misplaced them; never saw them again. I recall them costing around $1 each when I first started my collection.
The original books had terms that have changed in the newer version of the books that I glanced thru. For instance, the originals talked about a roadster, as opposed to a car. Can't remember some of the other old-time words, but it brings back memories of a great childhood for me.
I would get the flashlight and go under the covers at night to read the books, because I shared a bedroom with my sister and she didn't want any light on when she was in bed.

I first picked up a Nancy Drew book when I was at sleep over camp. they had a library and I used to sneak over there to read instead of going out to the lake to swim. This was I think a 1931 copy. It didn't have any illustrations, but it had odd words. In the book ole Nancy had a friend (called in the book a chum) I had never heard that word before. After reading it, I decided to call my best friend there my chum. She looked at me as if I had grown green fangs. That was the only time I ever read it. Although I must say, I wondered at the time how old this Keen woman was..... as it was published in the early 30's.

The pic with the gold dress is what I remember. Loved those books, hoping my granddaughter will enjoy them as well!

Bottom right. My Nancy Drew books have yellow and black covers. I have one like the blue. Just re-read one a few months ago.

I remember the bottom left hand corner the most, I also read the blue ones, didn't see the yellow ones until much later like in the 80's, I remember they would go have a luncheon as apposed to lunch these days.

Carolyn Keene was a name used by about 10 or more authors who wrote Nancy Drew books starting in the early 1930’s. I loved all the books and would like to read them again.
