NOVEMBER 2022 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY

The year is rapidly coming to an end. November is already upon us where most will celebrate Thanksgiving. A day to be thankful.

Please share with the group books that you are currently reading, or thinking about reading. We even want to hear about the books that you wish to forget.

Re: NOVEMBER 2022 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY

Well I visited an small independent book store last week, and always feel compelled to buy something while in one. So I picked up Stephen King's Fairy Tale. Had hoped to start it before Halloween, but that never happened.

I've started clearing out my bookcases and decided to reread some of my Agatha Christie's before donating. Just don't seem to make a dent in them. I can only read so much, for so long.

The Shore, by Katie Runde.  Brian and Margot with their two girls live in a small seashore twon.  Brian and Margot college sweethearts, go on to be teachers while building a vacation rental business by slowly buying and renovating homes.  The day finally comes when the classroom salary is no longer needed for this focused family.

Their daughters are teenagers working in their own summer salt water taffy part time jobs.  Life is predictable and wonderful.  Brian soon starts to act erratic, shouting obscenities to all even strangers.  Walking around without pants is just a typical day now for this struggling hurting family.  Brain tumor for this barely middle aged man.  Their family journey is now going down a different path for all of them.

Just finished my first book in November.  I Miss You When You Blink by Mary Laura Philpott (nf).  A book of essays which was fast reading with short chapters.  To me it was a memoir but so much more which is why she called it essays I guess.

Just finished Genesis by Chris Carter.  This is a pretty good murder/serial killer, the hunt is on kind of book.  Goodreads rates it 4.68/5.

I have just started the book After She'd Gone by Alex Dahl.  This has started off very well with two stories, the link yet to be revealed.  Not long, about 325 pages.  LM

I read THE HIGH NOTES by Danielle Steel.  Very good book about the struggles of a woman to become a professional singer.  So many people took advantage of her.

In transit to me are new books RACING THE LIGHT by Robert Crais and GOING ROGUE by Janet Evanovich.  I'm sure I'll enjoy these books.

@dawg lover   I'm #2 in line for Racing The Light and am surprised the waitlist isn't longer.

I read The Rising Tide by Ann Cleeves, the latest in the Vera Stanhope series.  Really enjoyed it.  I think this series has gotten better and better.  I prefer it over her Shetland series and the new Matthew Venn series.  It's more character driven and Vera is unique.

Re: NOVEMBER 2022 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY

Just finished one of the best books I've read in months: The Measure by Nikki Erlick. Great character development with an engaging story that I've thought about since reading it. Everyone on Earth receives a box. In the box is a string. Its  length corresponds to how long the person will live. The book is less about this aspect and more about relationships, so don't let the plot discourage you if you're not into a plot line like this. Very thought-provoking book with a great story!

It seems a long time since Crais has written a book. Readers probably forgot all about him. (not me!)
