Mitford Years by Jan Karon

[ Edited ]

For those who have read this series I have a question.  I have read the entire series and I am currently reading Somewhere Safe with Someone Good.  In the last book Father Tim and his wife were at Meadowgate and planning on going to Ireland.  Now in this book they are back from Ireland and Father Tim has a brother.

I'm only on the first 50 pages of the book but was wondering if Ms. Karon explains the appearance of a brother?  I feel as though I missed an entire book because there are references to their Ireland trip also.  Since this book is 500+ pages I was thinking about skimming over some pages (because so far it's rather boring) but I want to find out what happened.

I'm editing my original post.  Was I supposed to read Home to Holly Spring before Somewhere Safe with Someone Good?  i was just on Goodreads.com and it seems as though the Holly Spring book was published right before this one.  But, I was reading the Mitford Years books in order so the Holly Spring book didn't fit in the sequence.

Yes, I do believe "Home to Holly Springs" is where he is summoned back to his birthplace and discovers a half-brother.  I have enjoyed all the Mitford series.

Love the whole series and have read many many times:

Home to Holly Springs (Father Tim, Book 1)Book 1 of Father Tim series
In the Company of Others (The Mitford Years)Book 2
Somewhere Safe with Somebody Good: The New Mitford Novel (A Mitford Novel)Book Three
Come Rain or Come Shine (A Mitford Novel)Book Four
All wonderful, Book two was a bit slow but I prefer the setting of Mitford itself.  Happy Reading!!!!

I read that series a few years ago. Late husband was very ill, so that series kept me company msny sleepless nights. Reminded me of Cabot Cove on Murder she Wrote, tv show.

You'll also have to read In the Company of Others (that's the book where they visit Ireland) after ...Holly Springs and before Somewhere Safe...  Then, the most recent book is Come Rain or Come Shine.  Enjoy!

Oh goodness, I just wrote a post about The Mitford Series . . . I'm glad to see it has been enjoyed by others.  I definitely think the books should be read in order.
