MAY 2023 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

A new month is upon us and we have two holidays to celebrate this month. Mothers day and Memorial Day.

I am currently reading Dark Angel (A Letty Davenport Novel) by John Sanford. I should have this wrapped up in another day or two and will leave my thoughts at that time.

Please share what you are reading. Even lurkers, this is a safe thread no matter what you read. We enjoy books from all genres.

I recently finished " Community Board," by Tara Conklin. It is a funny and quirky tale about Darcy Clipper's life that has fallen apart. She returns to her hometown to regroup , but nothing goes as planned. The Community Board is a local message board that plays a role and is really funny. Just a light and fun read.

Re: MAY 2023 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

Im finally reading the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy after finishing Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt vonnegut, and before that, Freakonomics. honestly didnt care for freakonomics, the writing made the guy sound so cocky. i would get it if he wanted to include his life story in the intro or the blurb, but to suck his own ****** about how smart he is for 20 pages and call it "bonus material" at the end of the book was a bit of a reach. not to say that he didnt make interesting points or introduced me to new concepts in data and math, but it was just a bit disconnected, and some of the logic was sloppy.

I liked slaughterhouse 5 alot. hitchiker's guide is funny, but im hoping to finish it soon to read something else.

@Neetgal2   Who is the author of Mrs Poe?  And was it good?

One of her previous novels, 'The Last Romantics'; is a good read.

Enjoy reading everyone's selections.  I am in a rut with Libby and detectives.  All the books they have to offer, I picked 14 losers last week.

Thanks for all the diverse suggestions.

the author of Mrs. Poe is Lynn Cullen.

I liked the book.  Many poems I was taught in high school, the writer's were in "the book", so I liked it.

Re: MAY 2023 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

I'm 3/4 of the way thru The Golden Doves and I'm really liking it!  Next up is Dark Angel.

I'm a regular at my local library. I worked at Barnes& Noble for 16 years and took full advantage of the employee book borrowing program. Once I retired, it was back to the library. I read way too much to buy books. Every once in a while I will buy one by a favorite author or if one really interests me.❤️
