If you are a fan of the Hamish Macbeth or Agatha Raisin books sad to report that the author known as M.C. Beaton has passed away.  I enjoyed both these series and will miss having new ones to look forward to!

That is such bad news. I've been a fan for many years. The humor in her mysteries was superb. I think she also wrote a series of historical mysteries that I read too. I will miss her wonderful books..pure escapism on a rainy day.

I am a fan, too.  Her books are so enjoyable!  As next poster said, they are so perfect for a rainy day, or any time that I want to just kick back and totally relax!  Fortunately, I haven’t read them all, so I still have much to look forward to.

That is sad to hear. I think I have read all her books. Really loved them esp the Hamish Macbeth.

I was so saddened by this news. I have read all of her Hamish Macbeth and Agatha Raisin series. Love them both. I am also on a forum for the Agatha Raisin one and have been for years. It really is hard to imagine not having any more of these two series to look forward to coming out. Due to her there are a lot of women on the forum and we come from all over the world. Through the years we have became really good friends and it is just so fun to go and chat with everyone about the books and just different fun things in our lives.

I am truly dismayed by this news. I adore Agatha Raisin (the book, not the terrible TV series).

Thanks to the OP for sharing this sad information.

I was so sorry to read this, although I knew she was quite elderly.  There is a new Hamish MacBeth book coming out in February, and there will be another Agatha Raisin book coming out later this year.  She will certainly be missed.

Thanks, @dawg lover.  I was going to say I will really miss Hamisch MacBeth but the last few books were kind of same old same old.  Maybe she did a resolution of sorts in this last book, if she knew it was probably the last.  One can only hope.  And a last book on Agatha will be interesting.   Rest in peace, M.C. Beaton.  She was certainly a prolific writer.
