The Help was published in 2009 if you can believe it.

Her new one The Calamity Club is being published on 4/7/2026 and it's 694 pages! Has she been writing it for that long?

Here is the plot:

"Set in Oxford, Mississippi, in 1933, The Calamity Club tells the story of a group of women—some socialites, a few criminals—whose fates converge as the summer turns to fall and the hard times of the Depression tighten their grip.

While some cling to the fantasy of bygone days, others are emboldened by their to seek power, to climb Southern social ranks, or to take astonishing risks, no matter the cost, because there’s little left to lose."

@SWEET Thank you for posting.

I thought The Help was such a good book.

If you haven't listened to The Help as an audiobook it was the best I have ever listened to.

There was a whole cast of readers & it is great.

I will look for her new book next year.

Can't remember the year I read it but I also saw the movie and loved it as much as the book.

@SWEET I have watched the movie a few times, too.

It has such a great cast. I do love it.

I purchased the DVD and the book of the Help. Neither the book or the DVD appealed to me.

I gave the DVD to a co-worker. I disliked the book so much I would not donate it. Instead I tore the pages and actually burnt the book.

I do remember laughing at Minny's ingredient for her chocolate pie.

It is too bad you could not bring yourself to just leave the book in a public place for someone to pick up and enjoy. The book and the movie were extremely good. Looking forward to her new work.

It truly hurts my heart @Judaline to read about a book being "burned", even if it is one I do not like or agree with. Just does not sit right with me.
