Jeffrey Archer's Next Book and Your Recommendations

[ Edited ]

Clifton Chronicles - The final book for this series (book #7) is due out on November 8, and I have pre-ordered it for my Nook. I loved this series, but found that waiting a year or so for each new one in the series caused me to sometimes forget little important incidents in the prior books.

This past summer when I was out of the country for six weeks, I re-read the whole series thus far, and must say it was a great way to get everything straight in my mind and to refresh my memory. Now, I am really eager to read the final book of the series.

My question to all of you who know Archer's books is: What similar type series do you recommend that I start? He has to be one of my favorite fictional authors. To help with your suggestions, I really do like the style of writing that Archer uses. I like that he has continuing and intertwining stories going on. His novels are easy for me to read; they move along. Other books of his have short chapters and I like that too. I believe I have ever single book he has written.

Books I do NOT particularly care for are westerns, science fiction, or historical (although I must say that the Clifton Chronicles did incorporate the continuing story with true events).

I have read the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye, enjoyed some of Robert Ludlum's books, and find James Michener a little too slow moving for me.

I have a few John Grisham books and see he has a new legal novel out called The Whisperer. I do enjoy legal novels.

I have read all of Agatha Christie's books and love mysteries.

Any help/suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Jeffrey Archer's Next Book and Your Recommendations

@World Traveler, this may seem to come out of left field, but I highly recommend a trilogy by Stephen King.  These are the books in order

Mr. Mercedes

Finders Keeper

End of Watch

These books are not of the horror genre.  I never knew what a fantastic story teller King was until I read these.  They are all out now, so no waiting around.

Happy Reading.  LM

@Lilysmom Hmmmmm.....interesting. I only know of him in, as you say, the horror genre. I would never have given him a second thought. I'll check it out. Thanks. Smiley Happy

@World Traveler, check out the reviews on Goodreads.  If you don't have it, download the app.  It helps you keep track of books you've read, gives storylines and ratings for books.  It's one of my favorite apps.  LM

Re: Jeffrey Archer's Next Book and Your Recommendations

@Lilysmom Well, it took a little bit of time to do it, but I went to the Goodreads website and went thru all the genres and entered/deleted the books they had available for recommendations.

One thing is for certain.....anyone going thru my list will surely know a lot about me! ha! They say you can tell what a person is like by what they read, and I am quite sure my list of "not interested" or list of what I want to read says a lot about me! Smiley LOL

Thanks again!

Re: Jeffrey Archer's Next Book and Your Recommendations

As you can see from my nic, I am a huge fan of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. Start in order. I've also read the Clifton Chronicles and most of Archer's books. While not apples to apples, the Outlander series is outstanding.
