I know there are a lot of readers who don't like Danielle Steel but I read hers periodically. Just finished Past Perfect and for once it wasn't romance. It was sort of paranormal/time travel. A fast read.

I've read Danielle Steel, but have lost interest. Many of her books are repetitious; she keeps describing the same things over and over again. Her stories are usually about a woman who has a successful career, never looks her age, loses her husband or has marital problems, has money trouble but can still afford to travel and buy things, has children who cause her difficulty. It gets boring after awhile.
It's good to know when she eventually writes something different. Maybe I'll try "Past Perfect." I can always give up if it's not to my liking.

@icezeus wroteI am currently reading House Secrets by Mike Lawson.
I really liked that series by Mike Lawson.
I found another series that I like. I am binge reading the Sam Mason series by LA Dobbs. I have read 5 of the 6 so far. It is available on Kindle Unlimited. The books are set in northern New Hampshire where Sam Mason is the chief of police in a small town. Each book has a stand alone mystery and there are some storylines that carry over. Here are the titles: Telling LIes, Keeping Secrets, Exposing Truths, Betraying Trust, and Killing Dreams. I recommend them if you are a sucker for a good series like I am.

About 1/3 the way through The Black Swan of Paris by Karen Robards at the recommendation of a friend. Takes place in Paris 1944. One of my favorite genres is this time period and the horrors that took place; since I was taught very little about this in school way back when and schools don't seem to teach much history any longer, I feel it's important to know the sins of man against man. Quite a few times already, I've had to stop reading for the day when things get too horrible. I'm hoping the second half of the story, when I get there, will be lighter. It's been nearly 80 years now, not really that long ago.

@AuntG wrote:Oh yes, I have reading moods @abbalulu. Christmas stories captivate me. I won't read books with heavy or controversial topics. Books are my happy place. My reading topics are much like a Hallmark movie.
@AuntG I think that's exactly the mood I'm in right now. Literary comfort food. I too am attracted to Christmas books.
It's good to know I'm not alone.

I liked this book but wanted to like it more for some reason. Can't put my finger on why it wasn't a good family book. LOL

@sandy53 I'm a sucker for a good mystery-even murder, lol. Are these good at that or is there (usually) a lot of romance that takes preference?

I didn't want to stop reading it.

A story about a woman's relationship with her mother. A good read with a surprise ending.
