Finished The Retreat by Mark Edwards, it was good! Not his best at least not to me, but it held my interest and was very suspenseful!!!

Re: JUNE 2023 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

Just read Adrienne Brodeau's memoir from 2019 Wild Game.  It was raw and emotional but worth 4 stars from me.  Glad I found it in my own LFL.  It was on my tbr list before I found it.  Now I want to read her upcoming fiction Little Monsters

I just read such a good book; I really liked it.  It's called REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES by Shelby Van Pelt.  It's a heartwarming book about a nighttime cleaning lady at an aquarium and the relationship she develops with a very intelligent giant octopus.  It was recommended by Jenna Bush Hager from the Today Show.

Now, back to my mysteries:  next up is CROSS DOWN by James Patterson.

The autobiographies

Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir by Matthew Perry.  Yikes, is he screwed up.

All About Me by Mel Brooks.  If you a fan of Mr. Brooks you'll enjoy reading all about him.  I consider him a national treasure.

Spare by Harry    I have nothing but empathy for him.  That's all I'll say.

@Lilysmom1  I just borrowed The Kind Worth Saving from the library.  I haven't read the Kind Worth Killing. In your opinion should I read the Worth Killing one first, would it matter to the story?

I'm reading reading Queens of the Age of Chivalry by Alison Weir.  Her books are always good. Very interesting, the lives of these women read like a soap opera, but they all existed. They were strong and had to be brave considering all the intrigue around them.

@dawg lover   Remarkably Bright Creatures was one of my very favorite books from last year.  5 stars all the way.  Such a lovely, charming story.

Re: JUNE 2023 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

Someone Else's Shoes by Jojo Moyes was a mixed bag for me.  Some of it was fun and some of it was way over the top.  Overall, it was an enjoyable read, but much too long.

I also read Maureen by Rachel Joyce.  I loved the Unlikely Pilgrimage  of Harold Fry, and even more so, The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy.  Ms Joyce apparently felt she needed a trilogy.  I did not enjoy this book.  It's a very thin story that added nothing to the other two.
