Re: JUNE 2021 HAPPY READING!! LET'S HEAR YOUR FAVORITES!

Greenlights, by Matthew McConaughey.  Started this morning before work and already half way through it.  Of course he graduated high school just down the interstate from where I graduated high school, so I love reading about his growing up years.  If rumors are true I may see his name on my ballot one day for Governor of Texas.  Great book.

Re: JUNE 2021 HAPPY READING!! LET'S HEAR YOUR FAVORITES!

I just finished "The Dutch House" by Ann Patchett.

At the end of WW11 Cyril Conroy builds a hugh fortune through investments. One of his acquisitions is a mansion known as the Dutch House. The story is narrated by Cyril's son, Danny.

The saga covers 50 years telling about Danny and his sister, Maeve. Their stepmother exiled both siblings from the Dutch House, and they are forced to come to terms with their past and each other.

Most of the book was interesting, but the end fell flat. It seemed that the author rushed to put events in order without going into detail why they happened. Some of the characters' actions were questionable but not explained well or why they were like that. I thought the end was also unbelievable.

Many readers liked this, so maybe I'm being too critical. But it just didn't work for me.

After a long absence, I have returned to Kingsbridge, England, via A Column of Fire by Ken Follett. I have progressed quickly since our Direct TV has been on the fritz for the past 2 days!!!

I just finished reading Extinction Machine (Joe Ledger #5) by Jonathan Maberry. It's not for all and his  books are pretty violent. Think Science Fiction meets Military Black Ops.

I don't understand how the author manages to combine the two but he does. John Maberry always makes the impossible seem plausible.

This latest book involved UFO's.
