@spumoni99 @Her strength is character development.  I have only read a few of her books but I like her.

Re: JULY 2023 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

this month I've read THE QUIET TENANT about a man who was a serial killer, but kept one woman a prisoner for 5 years. Actually it was better than it sounds.

now I'm reading Lisa Jackson's latest,THE LAST SINNER,a story about a man who dresses as a priest and strangles women with rosary beads. Actually so far it really good!

This morning I was able to wrap up The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. This was an excellent book, one that I was unsure if I would enjoy but the story but was well written.

4/5 on Goodreads.

Finished Mona Simpson's latest book Commitment.  It's her first book since 2014.  I really liked it though it got mixed reviews.  That's why I don't read reviews before I read the book myself.  I don't like people influencing my book.

I am almost finished The Only One Left by Riley Sager.  I usually like her but not a fan of this one.  I found it way to long.  Just for fun, I skipped more than 100 pages and had no trouble picking up the story.  Waaay too long for the content.

When was in school book reports could not be written as "i liked this book, because it was good". C'mon people tell us briefly what the heck the book is about!

Maybe it's much to early in the game,ah but I thought I'd ask you just the same

Yesterday I finished The Spectacular, the new book by Fiona Davis.  All of her books focus on an iconic New York City building and this one is about Radio City Music Hall.  The main character becomes a Rockette in the 1950's when a mad bomber is terrorizing the city.  Murder, mystery, family problems, and romance are all a part of this book.  The early beginnings of criminal profiling is also an interesting part of the story.  The author combines real events (ie. the bomber) and fiction in the novel.

I really liked this book and recommend it.  The author steps away from her usual pattern of having both a historic and a contemporary story line.  There is a small part of the story that features the main character years later, but it is minimal.  This is a G-rated book for language and s*x if that is important to you.

I toured Radio City Music Hall years ago when I chaperoned a high school choir trip to NYC.  I expected it to be a dud, but it was one of the most interesting places we toured.  So I was looking forward to reading this book that included so many features of that historic theater.  The book did not disappoint.

A few years ago, there were some complaints about providing too much information, commenting on spoilers.  Some people don't want to know anything about a book, some not even reading the description provided on the back (which seems a little strange to me, but I'm not them.) Can't speak for everyone, but that's why I personally stopped including more detail.

Then those that do not  want to know shouldn't read the posting. Why would one indiscriminately pick up a book and NOT want to know what it is about? And one does NOT have to include a lot of detail.

A young girl growing up the in the South w/a Dad that is a lawyer learns about racism.

A brief biography of one of our most beloved presidents.

That is all that is needed.

Maybe it's much to early in the game,ah but I thought I'd ask you just the same

The True Love Experiment, by Christina Lauren;  Felicity "Fizzy" is a best selling author with a ton of best sellers under her belt about life and love.  But Fizzy as never been in love nor does she think she as been living much of a life.  Accidentally meeting Connor Prince a documentary filmmaker who as been instructed/encouraged by his boss to make a reality show, he and Fizzy begin a film collaboration.  Where does it end up with one of her "dates" or with someone else?
