A friend and I have a book club based on topics. We list topics for each month, along with multiple suggestions of books that apply.  Here are some topics we've done lately:

 

September--banned books (in recognition of September being banned books month)

October--psychological mysteries

November--books taking place in warmer weather

 

We also select a name each year (last time it was Pat/Patrick/Patricia. . .books had to be written by someone having that name, or have a title containing that name).

 

 We've been doing this for about five years now. Everyone enjoys it!
