I remember when these first were available to buy. So, funny to read. Much more fun than the old D, Jane & Spot books . I think the rhyming and silliness helped some children become interested in reading because they were silly and funny .
(Could not properly add the boys name because this website sensored the boy's nickname that the book was called )

I am in my mid 70's and well read. Went to a good school system and had a library card at 8 and went in my own to take out books, while my Mom or grandmother were in the butcher, imagine doing that today! I never read a Dr. Seuss book. At one point my daughter was given one for graduation from High School.
The books I loved to read to my children were Peter Rabbit and Amelia Bedilia! There were others of course, but never had Dr. Seuss. No reason. Lots of Golden Books.
i know my granddaughters have been given the whole set of Dr. Seuss books as gifts, I believe a shower.

@Tinkrbl44 That's ok. I never read To Kill A Mockingbird. We all lead our own life and can't be expected to all do the same things!

I don't remember ever reading one I didn't like. Personal favorites are The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears A Who, and the Grinch!
Funny I was thinking about reading some again, just last week I had that thought! The Cat in the Hat was the one I was thinking about.

Sorry if my not reading Dr Seuss has offended you ... or whatever your comment means.

@Tinkrbl44 @As a huge grinch fan, that is my favorite. I also like oh the places you will go. Many college graduates that I am close to get that along with another gift (usually money). One of my grads has her book in her law office! I think they are fun! Read and enjoy!

I would rather read a Dr. Seuss book than one where the plot is based on a who dunnit murder or some sort of extramarital romance.
