I was searching for something to get my young nephew for his birthday and knew he wanted to begin the Harry Potter series.  I was very excited to hear this since I love HP.  I was going to get him a boxed set of the whole series, but while searching Amazon, I came across the new illustrated version of the Sorcerer's Stone.  This is something I could get him every year as each new book comes out.

So I was going to buy myself a copy as well, but then found out that an even more fabulous edition was coming out on Nov. 12th, the Collector's Edition!!  I couldn't find any other pictures of the collector's edition, but it just looks so beautiful.  It has the same amazing pictures as the illustrated version.  I love books.  I don't have a tablet because I still love books.  This one is pricey, but if you're a big Harry Potter fan like me, I think it is worth it.  I can't wait!

Several Christmas' back my bosses wife bought all three of their daughters the set in a treasure Chest.  The girls are now in high school, one college on with a Masters and working but still come up here to our office with their tattered copies of Harry Potter when they need high speed Internet access for projects.

Makes me feel old but they do love those books.  The same ones I borrowed from the as each one came out.

You have a great ideal and it will be a big hit!!

Yea, not paying 200 bucks for a CE Potter book. If he's a big reader, I'd get him the hardcovers. I bought my daughter the hardcovers as they came out and she still has them and has reread the series many times.

You may want to try Scholastic.  They usually offer gift sets through their school book order and book fairs. And since they are the publisher of Harry Potter, the prices are usually less than other retail outlets.

I actually ended up buying the regular illustrated edition for my nephew from there, and since I signed up for their emails I got an additional 15% off.

I checked the price for the CE, and it is lower on Scholastic than on Amazon.  Maybe by the time it comes out, I will receive another coupon from them.  It can be an early Xmas present for myself!

If you like ebooks, the HP series is available on iBooks with added moving illustrations and annotations.
