What's funny is that I never realized how much I read till I took the challenge!  I guess it helps me keep track too.

I'm on Goodreads but I stopped posting there quite a while ago. I use Shelfari (thanks, SWEET!) and that's where I store all my book information.

I didn't reach my goal of 75 books, which surprised me. I thought I read more, although my calculations show I only read 63. I know I read some long books that took me over a week, but then again there were a few that I flew through in a day or two, so they should balance out.

No more reading goals for me. I'll read what I read and enjoy what I'm reading. I will be more apt to "pull the bookmark" if I don't like a book. There have been some I've suffered through, thinking I should like it because it's such a popular book and so many people here loved it. I am Pilgrim is one of them. I started it 3 times already and each time I read the beginning, but it was so gory I didn't want to go on. I think it's time to let it go for good, but yet it's so popular...

I want to read books that I can't put down. I want to read books that I'll read into the middle of the night because I can't wait to find out what happens next. That is my goal!

Happy reading, everyone Heart

Last year was my first time doing the challenge. I put my goal as 50 and read 53! So this year, I put 55 as my goal. I would like to continue to read more versus watching TV.

I like to read but I think this counting business is silly. Read what you like, when you like.

Why is a challenge needed? Kinda sounds like grade school.

The reading challenge is a goal you set to see if you can achieve it. There's nothing grade school about setting and achieving goals and I think any head of a fortune 500 company or athlete would agree.

@smoky22, are you formerly Smokymtngal?  I've been missing you around here.  Is that you?  And if it is, I appreciate your supportive messages during the time I've been going through with my mother!  And look forward to sharing recs with you and everyone else in 2016.  (And if it's not you, boy am I embarrassed LOL.)

Hi @LoriLori  Yes, it's me.  Just needed a little change for 2016.  I hope your mother is doing better and that you're also taking care of yourself!  It was so sweet of you to post about gardenman's book, too.  You are so thoughtful!:Heart

While I don't set any kind of reading goal, I do like when Goodreads sends me a note about updating my reading list, because sometimes I forget to go back and edit the status of the books I've listed.

Goodreads is great for keeping track of the books I've read, but I really like the book recommendations I get from our own Book Forum.

Last year I set a goal of 50 books and actually read 64.  So this year, I increased my goal to 60 books.  I'm looking forward to discovering new authors.  Although, when doing that, I also find plenty of stinkers.  My DNF bookshelf grows in proportion. Smiley LOL
