Re: Favorite Dystopian Novels ?

I'm probably forgetting a few, but here are some . . . . . .

The Hunger Games

The Maze Runner

The Stand

The Handmaid's Tale

Wayward Pines (the books were WAY better than the TV series)

One Second After

"Swan Song" by Robert McCammon. It takes place in a world after a nuclear war.  Excellent book.

@teganslaw   I read this book over 30 years ago. It was EXCELLENT!!

@ThinkingOutLoud  @Dusty1  @shoesnbags

I read One Second After a few years ago. Hands down, it was the scariest book I ever read because it can very well happen.

IIRC, Mr Forstchen wrote about EMP strikes in the back of the book and explained what could be done to prevent it from happening in our country. All these years later I doubt that anything was ever done. Scary.

I also read the sequels - One Year Later and The Final Day.

I enjoyed all three books, but the first one was the best. As shoesnbags stated, it has the most impact.

@lmt I have it on my list to read. Scarier than zombies, though.

@Dusty1   Way scarier. Zombies aren't real . . . EMP strikes are.

The Starless Sea by Erin Morganstern - swept me away.  I'm going to read it again at some point.

Church of Marvels by Leslie Parry is another good one.  It might not be considered purely dystopian but it felt like it to me.

I read Marcus Sakey's Brilliance trilogy this summer.

He's an excellent storyteller.
