Finished Torn Asunder by Barbara Ross, a pretty good cozy mystery (#12 and the most recent) in the clambake series). It can definitely be read as a stand alone.

Pulled the bookmark and did not finish two books in a row due to beyond the pale flowery/poetic language and convoluted storylines this past week. UGH!
Decided to play it safe with Elizabeth Strout's The Burgess Boys on audiobook. It was nice to get the backstory of Jim and Bob Burgess, Bob's twin sister Susan, and their lives in Shirley Falls Maine and New York City. Told in the usual plain spoken Strout style of people's lives unfolding.
Onward to two popular books on hold and now ready for download. Cheers!

Tried to read The Social Graces by Renee Rosen which is about Caroline Astor and Alva Vanderbilt in the late 1800s. Couldn't get into it after trying twice to read. It was a dnf for me. I've seen her other books and the plots are more modern and to my liking. I hope to read one of those one of these days.

I have just wrapped up Of blood and bone (Chronicles of the One) by Nora Roberts. This was a reread and is book 2 of a 3 book series I obviously loved the book since I have taken the time to reread the story. If I had to pick a Genera I would call it fantasy.

I'm reading THAT LIBRARIAN. Non fiction. It's about a librarian in Louisiana trying to protect her library from ridiculous book bans, interesting and very scary the things she's gone through.

Finished James by Percival Everett on audiobook last evening. It is the reimagined story of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from the life viewpoint of the enslaved Jim. The story was a fast paced adventure and spotlighted man's inhumanity to man.
Glad I listened to the much praised book for myself. However, I'm certainly in the minority, as I liked it but not overly wowed by the book.
Cheers & Happy Reading All!

The Mistletoe Mystery, by Nita Prose. A touch of Christmas at Valentine's Day and a touch of Molly with her special man, Juan. A short holiday novella to tide us over until the next installment of Molly's dear sweet life.
A Great Marriage, by Frances Mayes. Dara and Austin meet by accident in New York City. He is from London but working temporarily in NY and she is visiting the Big Apple from North Carolina. Two different countries but the heart wants what it wants. Austin goes back to London for a short time then returns to Dara and the engagement is announced. It is going to be the wedding of all weddings then off to law school for Dara and Austin's new work here in the states.
Austin receives a letter from London that stops his world on the spot and Dara's as well. The wedding is called off and no one but the two of them know why. Not even her loving parents or grandmother are told what as happened. Austin returns to London and Dara escapes to California to try to find something to make her life meaningful again.
Dara cannot hide this secret forever since Austin is having to deal with the new events in his life and paths do cross for so many of their loved ones. Dara's mother goes to London for a visit and there is no stopping the domino effect once a path as been crossed.

Finished Virginia 'dele Smith's Grocery Girl. A small town romance. A little too sweet for me and a little too Christian but not in your face.

Hi
Thank you, @icezeus , for this month's thread.
Thank you all for posting. I like finding new authors for me to check out.
I started to listen to Beg, Borrow Or Steal from Sarah Adams. I think I may give up on it. It's not pulling me into the story. I liked the other two in this series, but this one.........well..........I'm not sure.
I listened to the Morning Glory series by Liz Talley. She is a new author for me. I enjoyed them all. I recommend them all. Some themes throughout the series were finding put what you want to do, not going along with family expectations, and finding love when you don't expect it.
I LOVED Kennedy Ryan's, Before I Let Go! It could be intense at times. The story was real, raw and sad at times. HIGHLY recommend this story. Kennedy Ryan is a new author for me.
Up next for me are the following:
To Sicily With Love, Jennifer Probst
The Shack, Joanne DeMaio

I tried to read Frances Mayes A Great Marriage but couldn't get into it but will try again soon.
