Wow - almost forgot it was a new month! Finished the following Audibles:
HOMESEEKING by Karissa Chen. I admit I'm ignorant about a lot of things and historical fiction is how I actually learn about a topic I otherwise probably wouldn't have researched myself. I've read a few books over the last couple years focusing on China during WW2; and this book moves the storyline out to what happened afterwards. It's not a particularly deep study as to why communism "won", but I feel like it helped in my general understanding on a few things. Story shifted between the two main characters and went back and forth in time. I really liked this book, although admit that I lost track of something mentioned in the final chapter - likely because of the constant shifting of time lines. Would love to hear other's opinions on this one.
THE THREE LIVES OF CATE KAY by Kate ******an. Reese's bookclub pick that I almost wasn't going to read because the description said it's as if "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo meets First Lie Wins". Now, I actually liked both of those books, but the description really seemed like it was stretching. Nevertheless, this is another book I liked - excellent use of multiple narrators. I have to admit that I particularly like the main narrator - she reads all of Fredrik Backman's books (new one coming out in May!); so I may be biased.
BEAUTIFUL UGLY by Alice Feeney. I wanted a psychological thriller. I recognized Feeney's name, but not sure if I've read anything by her before. Not sure I would pick up another. I was drawn into her story and wasn't sure how it would end. But then, simply didn't like the ending.
I'm almost through with a book I'm really enjoying (although it may be taking a turn I'm less excited about. Happy reading everyone!!

Just finished The Keepers of Metsan Valo by Wendy Webb early this morning so will count it as a February read. It's not generally what I read but absolutely loved it. It's about a family and how Nordic folklore has shaped their lives for generations. I've put her on my list to read more of her writings. A magical read.

I didn't like this from the start. PTB early.

Wow - sounds like everyone is reading fascinating books with some depth to them.
I'm going thru a phase where I'm reading for distraction.........romance-type books with dogs in them.
Not dog books: Rivals by Jilly Cooper (set in England, competition for funding for TV stations, lots of backstabbing, infidelity but no graphic s*x)
Next up is Patricia Cornwall's Identity Unknown.

I'll remind you all I am a slow reader but I do appreciate seeing what everyone is reading and the suggestions you all post. My next book I am starting will be Denali's Howl by Andy Hall. It's a true story of a group of men that attempted to climb the majestic mountain in Alaska. I find these types of stories intriguing to say the least. I've read many about Everest over the years.
I change subject matter like the wind, LOL! Like @cindyNC , sometimes I read for distraction too, that's when I go to romance novels.

Finished Megan Tady's Bluebird Day. It was just an ok book about Claudine, a former skier and her daughter who have been estranged, who get stuck at a hostel since there was an avalanche.
Would I recommend? Not really. As I read the back of the book, it said it was "hilarious." Not sure. Couldn't find one funny thing about it except for the quirky characters.

The Phoenix Protocol Dry Fasting For Rapid Healing and Life Extension: Functional Immortality - by August Dunning
Fascinating.
I also recommend reading the reviews on Amazon...
