Finished my first Virgil Flowers book Dark of the Moon.  Having read all the Lucas Davenport Prey books and eagerly awaiting the new one coming in April, I decided to start the Flowers series. John Sandford never writes a bad book!  Glad I finally took the plunge and have a whole series ahead.   Sonia

No, he doesn't!  I'm going to make some nice comment to him on his facebook site, telling him how much I've enjoyed his books.

I'm on #23 of #28 in the Prey series and I have all 4 Kidd series books sitting in a little pile.  They are next.

Re: FAMILIAR WITH AUTHOR JOHN SANDFORD?

John Sandford has also written another book with Ctien:Saturn Run. It's science fiction and takes place in 2066.

Premise: a Caltech intern notices an decelerating object headed to Saturn. It looks like it will land on the planet. Spaceships decelerate, and the technology used on it is about 100 years advanced. If the US can get hold of that technology, it will put the country ahead of all others.Problem is, the Chinese are also intrested. So begins a race between the two countries to get to Saturn and have an advantage in the space program.

The book is different from Sandford's other books, and is interesting with an unexpected ending. Characterization is good, but there is so much technical overload in it that I had trouble at times. I'm not technically inclined, so this book wasn't one of his best IMO. I mention it, though, because someone else might like to check it out. If anyone likes space with technical details, describing ships and the way they run, this might be for you. It's not a bad book, but I prefer his others.

Have you had an opportunity to read Dark of the Moon? Did you enjoy it.

John Sanford books are like eating potato chips. I just can't have just one. I am going to be so disappointed when i finish all of the Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flower books.

I have not read any of the Kidd series, but I do not think that I would be interested. I believe that I read that Kidd is a criminal and the books are from his perspective. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Well, every book has to have a central character.  My next book will start the Kidd series, which should be within a week .....

Since there are 4 books in that series, it must have some pretty interesting character development .... or the publisher wouldn't have printed them.  Stay tuned.  Woman LOL

Re: FAMILIAR WITH AUTHOR JOHN SANDFORD?

New book available April 24th ..... I just saw a pre-order notice, but won't post due to fact link would be zapped ...

Twisted Prey, US hardcover

Lucas Davenport confronts an old nemesis, now a powerful U.S. senator, in the thrilling new novel in the #1 New York Times-bestselling Prey series.

Lucas Davenport had crossed paths with her before.

A rich psychopath, Taryn Grant had run successfully for the U.S. Senate, where Lucas had predicted she'd fit right in. He was also convinced that she'd been responsible for three murders, though he'd never been able to prove it. Once a psychopath had gotten that kind of rush, though, he or she often needed another fix, so he figured he might be seeing her again.

He was right. A federal marshal now, with a very wide scope of investigation, he's heard rumors that Grant has found her seat on the Senate intelligence committee, and the contacts she's made from it, to be very...useful. Pinning those rumors down was likely to be just as difficult as before, and considerably more dangerous.

But they had unfinished business, he and Grant. One way or the other, he was going to see it through to the end.

Re: FAMILIAR WITH AUTHOR JOHN SANDFORD?

Question for anyone who's read the Kidd series ......  what does Kidd look like?  I'm very visual and like to hae a mental picture of the characters whenever possible.

I know what Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers look like, but I'm about 100 pages into the Fool's Run, first in the series, and still don't have any sense of Kidd's appearance.

Anyone ??

I have Silent Prey book #4 on on my book stand to read. I hesitated to read the blurb that you posted about Twisted prey.  I could not resist and I read it. (Smile) John Sanford is my favorite author for 2018. On one hand I want to read all of his books immediately, but then  I will have nothing to look forward to.

I am trying my best to slow myself down by reading other books in between.

@apple sauce

I have enjoyed all of John Sanfords books that I have read so far. I am currently reading bad blood which is #4 in the Virgil Flower series. I have to admit that it's my least favorite book of the series. It's still well written, and entertaining and we just all love that &#$% Flowers.

I do not want to give anything away, but it's the subject matter that i do not care for. I will be glad when this books is completed and I can move on.  I will be interested in your take once you have completed it.

Well, since the Virgil Flowers series has 10 books and the Lucas Davenport has 27 books ... the 28th out later this month, it will take you a little time.

OTOH, I first started them in November and whizzed through them, so I guess pacing yourself isn't a bad idea.  lol
