My Name is Edward is the first book by Annamarie Topel. It is based on her real interactions with a homeless man in her community of Milwaukee. She is a gifted writer who has the ability to accurately describe the struggles of homelessness. Her next book in this series is They Call Him Skinny which is a closer look of a character from the first book. Annmarie Topel seeks to "draw attention to the need of compassion of homeless people and animals". Annmarie was a guest at our book group living only 1 1/2 hours away. After this trilogy she will write her memoir which she states will be difficult having  had a volatile childhood with an abusive mother. Her first book gives references to these situations . I highly recommend these books and cannot wait until her next one is published!
