Have been re-reading the “In Death” series by JD Robb. Began in the spring, though am not reading it straight through, meaning that I am inserting other books in between. Just finished #33, New York to Dallas, and remembered why I love this series so much (Robb/Roberts is the undisputed Queen of series books, in my opinion)! Does anyone else have a favorite series that they’re read over again?

I just re-read Lisa Kleypas Wallflower series before the holidays. There are 4 books named for seasons, and a Wallflower Christmas. Ms. kleypas is gifted at writing characters and even the side characters are interesting and make you want to know their story.

Michael Connelly, Harry Bosch,
Ruth Rendell, Inspector Wexford
PD James, Adam Dagleish
Harry Hole, Jo Nesbo
Henning Mankell, Kurt Wallender
Robert Parker, Jessie Stone
Louise Penny, Inspector Gamache
I think series are my favorite light reading, I love to get to know the character. Unfortunately, of the 7 authors listed above 4 are deceased.

I haven't re-read series since I was a child (too many other books to read!)

I've considered re-reading Harry Potter as now I'll know what to look for and how it connects to later storylines (and the Fantastic Beasts prequels). But, as @insomniac2 mentioned, there's so many new books to read, that I can't imagine spending the time going back. But, I can definitely see the lure of reading with the benefit of hindsight (or, is that foresight?)

I have reread series often. Sometimes I skim through them when a new book is coming out to refresh my memory. The latest In Death will be out the 30th. And the latest Harry Bosch book was just marked down.
*ETA* Harry Bosch book is back up to regular price. I paid 5.24 Short sale.

Yes. My "escape" reading is science fiction and fantasy, and supernatural horror. There's a never ending supply of series!
In the "literature" category ... I just dowloaded the C.S. Lewis Narnia series. I suppose that could be classified under fantasy also ... as well as his space trilogy.
(And ... I read all the Harry Potter books!)
ETA: I've read all Anne Rice's vampire series and witch series ... and just about everything else she's written.
And ... Stephen Donaldson's Thomas Covenant series 1 and 2.
And ... Piers Anthony's various series and Anne McCaffrey's dragon series.
And ... then there's Tolkien.

Have re-read the Mitford series many times;
Cape Light series;
Harry Potter only re-read once and discovered so much on second reading;
Twilight series re-read once too.
Eugenia Price died many years ago so I re-read her books/series since there will be no more.

Some day I'll reread the Lord Peter Wimsey series. Dorothy Sayers died in 1957 and Jill Paton Walsh wrote 4-5 more books in the series. The first few books would probably not be pc today.

@joannecha - I re-read the In Death series this year as well. I just love this series, not so much for Eve but for the supporting characters, such as Peabody. (Also wanted to mention to you that there is a new Donna Ball book out, called "Deadfall", since I know you enjoy her books as well.)
I have re-read a lot of series: Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books, John Sandford's "Prey" books, M. C. Beaton's Agatha Raisin books, J. A. Jance's J. P. Beaumont books, Sue Grafton's alphabet series, Laura Levine's books, the Number One Ladies Detective Agency books by Alexander McCall Smith, all of the Agatha Christie books, Nora Roberts trilogies, and many more. I am currently re-reading all the Mary Higgins Clark books. Next year, I would like to re-read Robert Crais', David Rosenfelt, Laurien Berenson, and Elly Griffiths' series. I like to use these re-reads as fill-ins, for when I don't have any books from the library. I always have my nose in a book!
