Just finished her new book THE DUTCHESS and I have to say it is fantastic.  The beginning reminded me of Cinderella, but better.  The ending will make you smile.

Warning, do not start to read the book if you have things that need to be done.  You will not be able to put it down.

@sallyann38 I am a loyal fan of Danielle Steel, I am currently reading "Against All Odds", good story, taking me to far away cities that I can only dream about visiting, exposing me to foods I will never taste, and giving me a sneak peek into designer fashions, such is the life!

A couple of days of forgetting about my real life problems and getting wrapped up in a book, thank you for your recommendation!

The DUCHESS looks really good and it reminds me of Zoya (I think), one of her older books.  I'm way behind in her books since she writes so many in such a short period of time.  I refuse to buy books and haven't been to the library in a year or so thanks to winning books.

I read her books because I don't have to think about them.  She tells the story and I just follow along.  Unfortunately, I can usually finish them in a day.

@DrKelli I have noticed over the last several years her writing has become simplistic almost, it seems she is being paid by the word as she repeats so much of what she has already written.

I am however loyal, but I only get her books from the library, I would not think of purchasing any of her books anymore like I once did, if anything I get an afternoon of escape.

@CareBears, she definitely follows a formula.  That's probably why she can put out 4 or 6 books a year (I can't remember how many come out, but I think it is as many as 6).

It is definitely an afternoon of escape--and the book ALWAYS has a happy ending.

@DrKelli I was just saying to a friend of mine today, it is almost like the Harlequin Romance books I used to read as a young teenager, I know she does not write only romance novels but most of her books you know what is going to happen about 15 pages into it.

But yet I stay loyal as she was one of the first grown up authors I started reading on a regular basis.

I started reading Danielle Steel with "Promises" many years ago.  That book was so encouraging I have been a fan ever since.  Have read everything except the one about Vietnam (that subject just makes me too sad).  I had Duchess on Reserve at the Library and received notice that it is now ready for me to pick up.  I will pick it up tomorrow along with "Every Last Lie" by Mary Kubica that is also on Hold for me.  I find it is either feast or famine.  I'm either waiting for books and none are coming and then too many come at once.  I have 3 other books I still need to read that were Reserved and came available last week.  Good thing I am a fast reader!

I have a hard time finding books if none of my new Reserved ones are coming as I have read everything I like to read over the years.  I'm always looking for authors I didn't know about to have somethng to read.    I read way too much!

@KathyM23 Look at this way, reading never hurt anybody so reading too much is a good thing!

That happens to me also, feast or famine at the library, they always seem to come in all at once, LOL!

Enjoy your weekend!
