@smoky22 I am reading All the Colours of the Dark. Wow. I get why it is five stars and I think I am only a quarter into it.

Thanks for asking @Judaline about my next mystery read. I started listening to a David Rosenfelt book in the Doug Brock series. Doug Brock is a New Jersey state police officer investigating criminal cases. Soft spot for LEOs (Law Enforcement Officers).
A friend reads Rosenfelt's K Team (former cop and dog team) and the Andy Carpenter (attorney and dog team) series. She enjoys them so much it was time for me to give Rosenfelt a whirl.
Cheers!

Enjoyed listening to David Rosenfelt's Black and Blue (Doug Brock series) finished yesterday. Fiction, mystery, crime genres. I found it quite humorous in spots. Fred Berman was the narrator and I thought he did a nice job on the various Jersey accents. Granted, it's been more than a New York minute since I've been in Paterson/Lodi New Jersey.
Also, finished a book of poems nominated for Washington State Book Award for Poetry 2024. Only a handful of poems worth crowing about in my opinion, unfortunately. Judas Goat: Poems by Gabrielle Bates.
Next stops....Cape Cod fiction read then on to Scandinavia for some Sami people Nordic noir. Cheers.

Fairydogmother, I've been keeping track of books I read for decades. It all started because I was tending to buy/check out the same books more than once. This way I can keep matters more clear. I also like to see how many books I can read. It's important to me.

Finished What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty. A good book however long but least it was fast moving.

@smoky22 , just finished All The Colours of the Dark. I am ruined for my next book, whatever it is. We have had a snow storm the last two days. In between quilting and housework getting ready for Christmas, I stole enough time to finish this book. It was amazing. I read the author's afterwords and was surprised Chris Whitaker is a man. Thank you for your recommendation. Not often you come across such a gem. I never give a 5* rating but this one makes the grade!
Merry Christmas @smoky22 and thank you for all the good books you bring to our Book Club! LM

@Lilysmom1 thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you liked All The Colors of the Dark. I agree it's an extraordinary book.
I appreciate all the posters here who share their book recommendations (as I know you do too). There are books I would never have heard of except for someone posting about them. This is the best forum on QVC, in my opinion. Everyone is so nice.
Merry Christmas @Lilysmom1. I look forward to sharing more books in 2025.
Merry Christmas everyone (or Happy Holidays depending on what you celebrate)!

Here! Here! @smoky22 @Lilysmom1 it is a great group in this book forum. And y'all are top notch!
Just checked my library Libby hold standing for All the Color of the Dark by Chris Whitaker and I'm 18 weeks away. Boo Hoo!
But, I love having a full hold list and have everyone on this forum to thank for my at max hold list and my next reads jammed with selections. This forum is a gold mine of information. So THANKS to ALL who contribute. You're Terrific!
Finished The Maytrees by Annie Dillard on audiobook. It has been years since I've read a Dillard book (Pilgrim at Tinker Creek, The Living). Beautiful prose with a setting of Outer Cape Cod in the wrtier/artist colony of Provincetown. A story of marriage and friendships post-World War II and through the decades in the dunes through the Cod's summers, winters, and everything in-between.
Started Stolen by Ann-Helen Laestadius (apparently a Netflix film) Sami/Swedish crime mystery. Made it 25% through the audiobook and DNF (did not finish) as book was moving at glacial pace. Interesting to read about the Sami culture (reindeer herders) but Aednan by Linnea Axelsson read earlier this year more engaging by far.
Started Mick Herron's The Secret Hours and the first chapter is off like the Kentucky Derby horses at Churchill Downs. Cheers!
