JUst finished her latest Alex Cooper mystery.  I have always enjoyed her books because she places the crime in a NYC historical location and you always found out a lot of interesting historical information about the location.  THis story features the Bronx Zoo and centered around the criminal importation of parts of protected species of animals like ivory from elephants.  I must say I did not enjoy it nearly as much as her previous books and just skimmed the last 50 pages.  HOwever one mediocre book out of all she has written is not a bad record and I will continue to read future releases.

Re: DEADFALL by LInda Fairstein

@KathyPet - Very interested to read this, as I just got this book at the library yesterday.  I have read the whole series, and while the first three books in the series are fantastic, I felt that they became "hit or miss" for me after that.  I don't enjoy all the New York history.  But, I like the characters, so I keep on reading them.  Some of the books are definitely better than others.  Thanks for your review!

Just opened my Amazon box today, but have company coming in mere hours for one week.  So doubt if I will get to it.  I have read every single one of this series and  she is one of my favorite authors.

How do you feel about the romance between Alex and Mike?

I still find it strange!

I am with you on this - I don't like all the New York history.  Not everyone cares about New York!

I was very disappointed in this book.  I only read the first 75 pages or so, then put it away, unfinished.  Alex seemed so clingy and dependent on Mike, not the strong woman character we have seen in previous books.  I always wanted them to get together, but now I don't like the results.

I thought she was clingy in the last book after her ordeal in the book before that.  I didn't like the shift in character either.

I went back and forth as to whether I wanted her with Mike.  It was kind of fun when he was jealous of her other boyfriends.  Not sure where the author will go with them.  Will they marry?  They are pretty different, her a rich girl and all that!
