Picked up Volume 1 (Volume 2 out next year 2026).  I am about halfway thru.  She has met Sonny and is beginning her ascent into becoming famous as Sonny and Cher.

I am really enjoying this book.  What a life!  Her mother, albeit gorgeous and talented as well, struggled to provide any kind of stability for Cher and her little sister.  I didn't realize she moved around so much as a kid, times were tough, times were sometimes great, but what a struggle.

I am at the part where she has met Sonny and is getting into background singing for Phil (Phillip) Spector - working with Darlene Love, the Wrecking Crew, meeting Brian Wilson, etc...

I love to read biographies and this is an autobiography. I highly recommend even if you're not a Cher fan.  It's so far a great life story.

I love bios not so much autobios.  Feel that they are not very objective--LOL!!

I loved it too - can't wait for Part 2.

Al Pacino's and Barbra Streisand's were also great reads.

Cher is one of the most talented people ever to walk across the stage.  Sounds like she had a rough upbringing.  But for the grace of God I think about people unfortunate in their childhood.

@jellyBEAN I listened to the audio book when it first came out.

Cher read most of it. She said she wasn't going to read the entire book because of her dyslexia.

I have always been a Cher fan. I always thought that she was a strong woman with a great sense of humor.

I lost a lot of respect for her in the book. I am sad about that.

Her Mother made so many horrible decisions for her own life, with so many excuses of how she had no other options & then she added children to her life & continued to make terrible choices.

And then Cher, that I thought was a strong, intelligent person, excuses her Mother & makes terrible decisions in her life, And, then drags her children through this.

I can't handle the thoughtless ways that these women lived their lives & left their children to fend for themselves. That makes me crazy!

I know it's complicated & life is hard, but Cher (And her sister.) & Chasity (And later Elijah.) deserved more from the Mothers.

This is why I hate the move ET. I will never watch it, again.

That Mom went to school to get Elliott & left a kindergartener home alone!!

I was so looking forward to reading/hearing her book but it made me so sad.

Long ago I worked with a man whose parents were Armenian and he joked that his claim to fame was that his mother babysat Cher.  Could be?

I read the book and can't believe Cher would keep making the same mistakes her mother did. She also had many excuses for trusting men when she shouldn't have.
I saw Cher on stage at Caesars Palace and it was a wonderful show. Her energy and voice was amazing as were the costumes.
I'm uncertain whether I'll read the second book. The writing skipped around and was disjointed with bad punctuation. It needed better editing.

@jellyBEAN - I read this a while ago and really enjoyed it.  Thanks for the heads up about Volume 2; I'll be watching for it!

I don't get the comments about her being a terrible mother.  As far as I know she has a good relationship with both of her children and had with her own mother.  We all know families are complicated!

Enjoy the rest of the book.
