@KathyM23, Mr. Mercedes?

i saw the movie The Shining and it scared me silly.  I never read the book.  These days, horror is not on my want list but books like The Outsider, Duma,  etc are tops in my mind.  LM

Stephen King had a book about a haunted car: Christine.  Maybe that's the one you were thinking about.

One of my favorite King books is Misery. Annie Wilkes is one of the scariest characters I've come across. The movie was also very good.

 I also recommend Revival, but only if you want another scary book.

To Kill a Mockingbird

The Kite Runner, A Thousand Spendid Suns and And the Mountains Echoed all by Khaled Hosseini.  All wonderful.   I wish he'd write another one.

@KathyM23

Thanks for recommendations.  I'll have to give them a try too.  Don't really know why I never have since I loved Kane and Abel so much.
