Re: Books That Made An Impact

[ Edited ]

A definite life-changer for me was Fish!  (by Lundin).  I read it as we drove out west one summer.  What an uplifting, positive read!

When I returned from vacation, I mended fences with a co-worker and surprisingly , over time, I developed a close friendship with her.  About 2 years later she experienced a return of the cancer she'd been declared cured of.  She passed away the next year and I was so glad I'd read that book and that we'd become such great friends.

The new editions show Anne Frank with a slight smile.  A favorite of mine.

Good, I'm glad.  I'm drawn to novels about people who are going through difficult times, but keep going, trying to do the right thing, and who take their jobs very seriously.

@tansy I'm a big fan of Last Night at the Lobster as well as all of Stuart O'Nan's books. Each one is better than the one before!

I loved Stewart O'Nan's The Circus Fire - non-fiction and riveting....
