Book Club

Is anyone in a book club?  I was until the virus.  It's been months since we met.  Not sure I"ll go back!

I’ve been in a book club for many years and we’ve had three monthly zoom meetings so far. I’m the one that set it up and it’s very easy to do and so good to see everyone. I would highly recommend it.

Years ago a nurse at the place I worked and with whom I shared books that we both liked, invited me to her book club.

I went once. My friend was nice but the other 4 were nasty gossips and tried to rope me in. I made an excuse about having to leave early.

I told my friend the next day I just don't want to sit around and tear people apart but to talk about whatever book is being read.

I was amazed that *she* was surprised at my reaction.

I am the organizer for a book club. We haven't met since February. The members don't seem interested in virtual meetings so we are on hold for now.

@tucsongal  Good for you for being able to make it work!  We couldn't get everyone on board for virtual meetings.

I tried years ago. But I generally don't really like new books unless they are set in the past. I don't like violence, excessive drama unless it's Anthony Trollope sort of drama, heh heh. I don't like extreme adventure and I like my books to have some sort of humor in them if possible. So that really leaves out most of the type of books that book clubs choose. Otherwise, I think I would like it.

I belong to a book club that has had several zoom meetings. Some of us, like me, had trouble with the technology at first; but we were able to have a decent discussion.  Last week we had our July meeting at a local restaurant, where we were able to dine outside. Not sure what we will do once fall arrives and outdoor dining is no longer offered.
