Beverly Cleary’s Motivation

Beverly Cleary is one of my all-time favorite children's authors. "Ramona the Pest" was the first book I read aloud to my third grade class each year. (Children younger may not understand the humor because they are too close to Ramona's age.) If you are with 8 years+ children, read it orallly to them. You may find yourself trekking to the library for more of her works. They could want to read them independently, or they may prefer your story hour.

@On It-I will always love her books.  I read almost all of them. My teachers from K-4 would read aloud to the class.  Most of us would go to the library to get what ever book they were reading from to follow along.

@On It,

I'd forgotten about her books and I never knew aobut her motivation-so great that she started writing herself.

I especially liked Ribsy.Woman Happy and the illustrations were just right for the characters. She had 5 different illustrators.

I can't tell you how many copies of her books I kept in my classroom library.  They made for some of the best read aloud stories ever!😃❤️
