@Allthingsgirly67 I've never been disappointed with books purchased from Thriftbooks dot com. I haven't bought many, mostly cookbooks, but the condition is stated in description and they are truthful statements. Prices are ver reasonable, but with a $10 purchase, shipping is free. That's what S&H was a couple months ago. Used to be free S&H regardless of amount spent. Check them out, you may find something you've been looking for.

Local used bookstores. They need the money.

If you're near West Chester, PA, Baldwin's Book Barn is a great place. The barn was built in 1822, the Baldwins started the business in 1934, and the business moved to the barn in 1946. It might still be owned by the Baldwin family.

I'm an avid reader and must buy online.
These are the best I've come across, with free (or very low-cost) shipping:
Better World Books website
my fave since purchases help donate books plus raise funds for libraries and literacy
Ebay
Thrift Books website
Discover Books website
Amazon

Another Avid reader. Although, 99.9% of my books I now pick up from the library.
Before I converted back to the library I picked up a lot of books from,
Used Book Stores
Amazon
eBay
Also, my local library has a section called "Friends of the library where they sell used books that are greatly reduced from the original price.
Before utilizing all of the above methods I spent a small fortune purchasing new books from B.Dalton, Walden Books, Crown Books, and Barnes and Nobel.

AngelPuppy1 included this in her answer, but I will mention it again.
ABE.com (for advanced book exchange) is a really good one, I think. If I can't find something reasonable on Amazon, I tend to check out abe.com, and usually have very good luck.
It was one of the first used book sites, or any site actually, that I purchased from when I first started online shopping in 1997. It's still one of my favorites. I think all used book sellers around, list their books on this site.

I buy most of mine from Ebay. I have found a few really good sellers there, and continue to purchase from them. I don't buy newer books, they are very pricey and I read way too much to pay those prices....
Most of the books I purchase are under 10.00 including any shipping. We used to have a really good Used Book store where I live, but a Grocery Store pushed her out, and she couldn't afford the rent anywhere else......

I like AbeBooks and Thriftbooks.com
