I see there are two authors with similar names, Liane Moriarty and Laura Moriarty. Does anyone know if their books are similar? Was going to order one of their books but am a bit confused.

Never heard of either of them. What do the reviews indicate?

Have you tried downloading the Kindle App and downloading sample books from either author? You don't need to own a Kindle to use a Kindle or a mobile device to use a Kindle reading app. You can download a Kindle Reader app to any Android, Apple, or Windows mobile device OR to a PC running most versions of Windows XP Windows 8) OR you can use the Kindle cloud browser. Any Kindle book allows you to download a free sample of a book to read and make a decision about purchasing the book.

If you like the sample, you can buy the paper book.

Mcbet, Laura Moriarity wrote The Chaperone (historical fiction about Louise Brooks), which I really enjoyed. Liane Moriarity wrote, among other things, What Alice Forgot, which deals with dementia: excellent!

So, besides having their last names in common, they both write interesting books.

I haven't read either.  Sometimes there are several authors with the same name as well.

I recently discovered there's a Kinsey Grafton.  LOL  I thought maybe they were related, but didn't find any connection.   Her books are definitely playing off Sue's.  I haven't bought them but put them in my wish list and will if the price is ever right.

  1. One Last Time (A Sandy Brown Thriller Book 1)
    $6.81
    Kindle Edition
  2. Two Times Dead (A Sandy Brown Thriller Book 2)
    $7.52
    Kindle Edition
  3. Three Gone Cold (A Sandy Brown Thriller Book 3)
    $7.72
    Kindle Edition

Thank you all.  I was given a book by Laura Moriarty and that will be the next one to read. I will also check my Kindle. I still like the paper pages so don.t use the Kindle too much. A magazine article said that What Alice Forgot will be made into a movie, but gave no information about the cast.

@debic, Thanks for mentioning these.  I looked at the Amazon reviews out of curiosity.  Most seemed annoyed by the play on Grafton's name and Evanovich's titles so the reviews probably aren't too objective but said the books were violent.  Let us know if you read one and what you think of it.

I will.

Most books tend to play on other successful authors.  It doesn't really offend me as movies are the same way, there are only so many original ideas.   I didn't read the reviews but was attracted because of the coincidence of the name.

LOL, skimmed through some of the reviews.  There are actually some that think these are Sue Grafton books.

It took me all of 2 minutes that she was a retired 6th grade teacher for 30 years.

I have not read any of Laura's work but Liane's books are wonderful.  The Husband's Secret and What Alice Forgot are both winners.
