With Nancy being eighteen, and driving a car, I think an older teen might appeal to her.
Why not take her to the library and let her pick out books similar to the Trixie Belden series or other topics that might spark interest?

@AuntG My granddaughter enjoyed "The one and only Ivan" I read it and enjoyed it myself.
