Hello readers, hoping that this month brings some cooler temperatures, and that we are all enjoying our chosen books.

I am currently reading Tombstone Courage by J.A. Jance.

Re: AUGUST 2023 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

I finished The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. My first Morrison book, what a writer she was.  The characters in the book come alive.  The main characters are black sisters Claudia and Frieda and their friend Pecola.  Its sad and funny and disturbing. It takes place in the early 1940's.

I borrowed this book and another Morrison book Beloved. I haven't started that one yet, I think I need a breather from the first one.

The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese was wonderful.  This is the same author who wrote Cutting for Stone, another great book.  It is very long, over 700 pages, but before you say no way this book will take you on a journey to India and introduce you to characters you will never forget.

Re: AUGUST 2023 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

Happy August everyone.

I haven't been here for a long while.  Striking out on several books I tried to read.  Some I barely made thru the 2nd chapter.  Started questioning my taste in booksWoman Tongue

I did just finish reading The Spectacular by Fiona Davis.  I have now read all her books so I guess I'm a fan.

I started reading The Quiet Tenant.  Has anyone read this?  I'm about 5 chapters in and it's freaking me out a little, especially since the arrest of the Gilgo murderer.

I wanted to share that a few weeks ago Lisa Scottoline was at our local library to talk about how she came about to write her last 2 books.  If you ever get an opportunity to see her, I suggest you go.  She is so down to earth and entertaining.

Last week our library presented Laura Lippman.  I have not read any of her books, but enjoyed listening to her.  Guess I found another author to catch up on.

Happy reading!

Finished The Girl from The Papers by Jennifer L. Wright sort of based on Bonnie & Clyde.  I was hoping to make it my 11th book of July but didn't.

@Neetgal2   I read Spectacular a couple weeks ago.  Fiona Davis is one of my favorites.  I have read all of her books and enjoy all of them
