She is one of my favorite writers, but I am having some trouble getting into this one. Hope I become more interested in these characters.
Next month's book club read is Lisa See's Lady Tan's Circle
of Women.
I have Lisa Scottoline's book waiting for me to read it soon. I read Lady Tan's Circle of Women for my last book club meeting. It is a good read; I did cringe when I read the descriptions of the mother binding the feet on her little girls. It was all to make the young women attractive for their future husbands. There's a lot more to the book than that, but that was very vivid for me. All-in-all, it is a very good book.
Lisa's book Loyalty I returned without finishing, not even close to finishing. Little boy kidnapped and put into a prison with grown crazy men. Nope not going to read that. It may have been fine but I just could not go there. I am on hold for The Devin's.
I couldn't finish Lisa Scottoline's Loyalty either. It was just not my style and couldn't get past page 25 or something like that. The subject was just too disturbing from the start. It's the first book of hers that I didn't though I loved Eternal. Need to read The Truth About the Devlins.
That is about where I gave up too. Number 4 on the hold list for The Devlins.

Fourteen Days is an interesting read I just finished today. The editors are Margaret Atwood and Douglas Preston. The "fourteen days" are days in NYC in the early times of the 2020 Pandemic. The characters are from various ethnic groups and professions and have quite a variety of life experiences. They take turns telling stories on the roof top of a rental house. It was a unique read. If you are looking for something in a different style, this may appeal to you.

Just finished Golden Girl by elin Hilderbrand. It was good. different... I really enjoyher books, they are a nice diversion from the thriller and mysteries that I normally read.

@pateacher I just started reading The Truth about the Devlins. Like you, I wasnt sure if I could get interested in it or not and Lisa Scottaline has always been one of my favorite authors. This just didnt seem the same, but as I got further into the book, I became very intrested and am looking forward to continue reading it. I'll bet the ending will be a good one.

Well after 3 weeks this morning I finally finished The Hunter, by Tana French. It had some good moments but only finished to see what happened to Johnny and his selfish ways, otherwise I did not care for the book.

I read Lovers At The Museum, a short story by Isabel Allende, which was a free Prime Reading selection for March. Interesting if you can get it for free. Probably not worth buying, even at $1.99.
I also read Cut and Thirst, a short by Margaret Atwood, which was a free Prime Reading selection for April. I liked this one a little better than the Allende selection. It's also $1.99 to buy, but better to get for free.

I read A Short Walk Through a Wide World by Douglas Westerbeke, a dazzlingly epic debut novel that follows the incredible life of one woman as she travels the globe trying to outrun a mysterious curse. More than a fantasy, this book defies description. The blurbs like to compare it to The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, but for me, this book is far superior. I was captivated throughout.

Read those two selections @smoky22 and enjoyed also. Being a lover of short stories, these Prime Reading freebies are nice to have when you only have an hour or less. And, it gives you a chance to sample other authors. Atwood's Cut and Thirst had me really chuckling because I think I resemble those characters. Cheers. LOL

I've listened to a total of three short audiobooks recently by the author Paul Doirdon. The Imposter, Beartrap, and Snakebit in the Mike Bowditch crime series set in the Maine woods. It appears Doirdon has 14 full-length books in the series and the 15th due out in June this year. Prolific and very good writer, if you enjoy the genre.

@nwbabs Mr. Smoky has read all of the Paul Doiron Mike Bowditch mysteries, He enjoys the game warden plots and is eagerly waiting for the next one out in June. I don't think he's ever read any of the short stories, though. I'm glad you're enjoying them.
