Re: APRIL 2024 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

@teganslaw

I read "Everyone Here is Lying" by Shari Lapena either last year or the previous year.

I hated every single person in the book. (LOL)

It just goes to show how reading is such an individual and unique experience.

I read Everyone Here is Lying and thought it was fairly predictable, with a few exceptions.  And it left me thinking there were a lot of unresolved issues at the end.  I know most people enjoyed it.

Just finished "The Teacher" by Freida McFadden! It was so good. She sure knows how to weave a good tale. The characters were all something else as well...

A very fast good read.......

I am now starting Golden Girl, by Elin Hilderbrand!!!

Re: APRIL 2024 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

I have read -The Walls of Lucca (Steve Physioc)

              -The Fox Wife (Yangze Choo)

              -The Underground Railroad (Colson Whitehead)

-James (Percival Everett) This book is a loose                 retelling ofThe Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from the viewpoint of Jim.

I will start The Beautiful American (Jeanne Mackin) next.

We will be reading The Women  (Kristin Hannah) for our June choice. So I am interested in our posters, opinion on this one.

Lots of rain in our area, so a good opportunity for spring cleaning or more reading. I opt for the latter! Smiley Wink

Re: APRIL 2024 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

Scott Pratt, author, has a really good series featuring Joe Dillard, a district attorney in Tennessee. Murders and solving them, family crises and such make up the story lines. The stories move quickly as Pratt doesn't waste a lot of words with drivel. If you're interested, I recommend starting with the first book, An Innocent Client, and read them in the order written. I'm enjoying this new-to-me author. Amazon and most book stores carry the series of 10 or 11 books so far.

Reading "Everyone Here is Lying" by Shari Lapena.

William Wooler is a respected doctor in the small town of Stanhope, but has kept an affair secret from his wife and children.

Then William's lover, breaks up with him. William is devastated and drives home hoping to be alone with his thoughts. His 9 year old daughter, Avery,is home by herself when  he arrives. She gives William a diffcult time and he loses his temper, leaving the house. Hours later, the family reports Avery missing.

This is a very good book. Everyone is hiding something and keeping secrets, hardly any of the characters can be trusted. Just when I think I figured something out, the book takes another twist. I've read all of Lapena's books and this is one of her best.

Good review!
