Re: APRIL 2023 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

@CANDLEQUEEN  Mark Edwards is one of my favorite authors. He knows how to write a good psychological thriller. I have his most recent book which I have not gotten to yet.

Re: APRIL 2023 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

I've been reading (listening to) a new to me Australian author, Caroline Overington.

I really like her writing style where each character feels as if they're sitting across from you telling the story from their pov, each filling in gaps to complete the story. The narrators are really good and if you enjoy Australian accents and want to try out listening to a book, she is a good author for that.

My favorite was "Sisters of Mercy" but I also liked "Ghost Child" and "I Came to Say Goodbye" but not quite as much. The topics aren't easy reading but you do really get into the characters and and their motivations.

I've also read some Mark Edwards and Frieda McFadden which I've posted about elsewhere.

I started "The Sleepover" by Keri Barnes last night but I feel asleep. I'm assuming it about a sleepover though. Lol

Re: APRIL 2023 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

Finished the month with "Last Girl Ghosted" by Lisa Unger.

Wren has a popular advice column under the name "Dear Birdie." Her friend, Jax, persuades her to try the dating app Torch where Wren meets and falls in love with Adam.  After dating a few months, she confesses a secret to him something, she's never told anyone else. Then Adam "ghosts" her. She doesn't hear from him, his number ino longer exists; it's like he disappeared.

The book goes into Wren's past, and when she tries to find Adam with the help of an investigator, everything becomes unbelievable. Wren doesn't follow her own advice; she addresses Adam when he's not there; she also talks to another person, either an invisible friend or an alternative personality, which was confusing.

Improbable ending. I liked her friend, Jax, who was the most sensible one in the story.  I can't recommend this book. It started out strong, but could have been much better near the end.

I just finished Woke Up This Morning: The Definitive Oral History of the Sopranos.  LOVED it!  It was written by Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa based on their podcast.

Re: APRIL 2023 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

On this last day of April (2023) I finished the latest William Warwick novel, Next in Line,  by Jeffrey Archer.  As a rule, I'm not a huge fan of English authors. . . but Archer is a wonderful exception!  This novel continues with the master crook, Faulkner's shenanigans, as well as a sub plot involving the kidnapping of Princes Diana.  If they're smart, somebody will produce a Warwick series for television, but until then, I'll keep reading!!!
