Re: APRIL 2023 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

Kate Morton's way of writing is as much of a gift as the story itself. I've read four of hers so far but need the time to do it justice because they are l-o-n-g and I don't want to  rush and miss any nuance of her writing.

I read the first book and I really enjoyed it. However, book two and three dragged to me, and they could have had this wrapped up by now.

I do not plan on reading book #4.

Have you read any other David Baldacci books?  If so, just wondered what you thought. I haven't read any of his books but I was just given Mercy.. It seems like it will be interesting but I just never thought his books were something I would want to read.

@AngelPuppy1 Mercy is #4 and the final book to the Atlee Pine series.  You may want to read the other three first.  I waited on pins and needles for each new book to come out.  I loved them.

Oh, I did not realize it was a series.  Someone gave me this book and I already started it.  Generally speaking I try to avoid books that are in a big series.  Thanks!

Thanks!

I'm just going to read this one and that's it.  Too many in the series for me --- I didn't realize that's what it was!

@icezeus I completely agree.  I skimmed book 4 just to get it over with.  I do like some Baldacci books but not this.

I just re-read Sea of Tranquility by Emily St John Mandel.  I loved it the first time around and thought it was even more brilliant this time.  Maybe too much sci-fi for some, she is one of my favorite authors.

Just finished this one.  I had a hard time putting it down.  What you think through the majority of the book is not the reality of it.

I see that she has written quite a few books and I want to read more of them.  I like her style of writing.

I recommend this one.  It's not difficult reading and there are not a ton of characters to get you all confused.

I like this one a lot too! Check out her book, "The Mother in Law" if you haven't already. That one knocked my socks off trying to figure out why the MIL was so incredibly awful!

I was at home a lot this weekend, not feeling too good, so I started reading this book that I just received from Goodreads - a freebie.

It is called None of This Is True, by Lisa Jewell, and I have read other books by her-Wow!!!!This is so good...I am almost finished with it and I only read for about 2 hours on Saturday, and maybe an hour yesterday. It is written very well and catches your attention right away...  I was going to start Local Woman Missing, but will start that one after I finish this one....

Her books are incredible and always a must read for me. I've loved every thing I've read except for Ralph's Party. Just too messy.

Re: APRIL 2023 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

I've gotten a little behind posting. I've listened to the following Audibles:

THE MOSTLY TRUE STORY OF TANNER AND LOUISE by Colleen Oakley - it took me a while to get into.  I didn't find either main character likable at first, but I ended up liking the book (I'm pretty easy LOL).  Had some nice twists.

THE SOULMATE by Sally Hepworth.  I preferred this to her previous The Younger Wife. Secrets keep getting peeled away.  Unfortunately, I can't make the comment I would like to make as it would lead to a spoiler.  I think, if you like her other books, you may like this one.

DIRTY LAUNDRY by Disha Bose. I read a review that compared it to Desperate Housewives (May have been Real, but I think Desperate is the better comparison, so I'm sticking with that!) More unlikable people, who never become likable. I think the Goodreads mediocre 3.56 rating is reasonable.  Didn't hate it, but won't be the best I read this year.

I'm happy to be seeing all the positive reviews so far for Kate Morton's latest, as I just started listening to it on my way home!

Just finished All the Dangerous Things and really enjoyed it.
