Has anyone found these books less interesting than they used to be?  Maybe I am just getting tired of this series.  I don't seem to enjoy the books like I used to.

I recently started Ali Cross and didn't last long with that one.  I now have another and it's not grabbing me like it used to.  LM

I don’t think he writes many of the books himself anymore. He pumps them out too fast.. Wikipedia says he’s written 147 novels since 1976. If you notice most of his books have someone else’s name below his. It makes me wonder if he just comes up with the idea & someone else writes it. Or just how much of the writing is his. He used to be one of my favorite authors but I rarely read his books now.

The early books kept my attention. Once he remarried, I wasn't as big a fan of Alex.

I have read all the books in the series, and I agree, they aren't what they used to be.  He keeps recycling his villains; the same ones come back again.  If you notice, the Alex Cross books are the only ones that solely bear the James Patterson name alone.  Supposedly, he writes this series without a co-author.  I read them every year, but they're not great.  Glad that Nana Mama lives on!

Re: ALEX CROSS SERIES

[ Edited ]

@dawg lover @AuntG @Tribesters , I agree with all of you.  I refuse to buy books where his name is in big print and someone else is on the cover with him in small print.  Fell for that a couple of times but know better now.

I also think since the remarriage the books aren't as good.

The second last I got was Ali Cross which I PTB on very early.  Next up was Criss Cross which I also returned early.

I think this series is beyond the best before date for me. Too bad because the author can turn out a good book but I am not going to read three bad ones to get a good one.

Thanks for sharing your opinion.  LM

@Lilysmom

I’ve read very few of Patterson’s books so cannot compare this one that I loved, Instinct, to any others.

 It was first published as Murder Games and was co-written(very well) by James Patterson and Howard Roughan.
I loved the tv series Instinct, and decided to read the book on which it was based.   I loved the clever, amusing dialogue and brilliant insights into human nature.
A second book, Killer Instinct, should be out soon.
[was Homegirl] Love to be home . . . thus the screen name. Joined 2003.
