Why I Love the iPod Touch/iPhone

News, Weather, Sports Updates, Games, Social Networking, etc.,etc.,etc. The question isn't what can you do with an iPod Touch or iPhone, but what can't you do?  OK, there is no diaper changing/lawnmower app , but when it comes to information, this thing is AWESOME!!!!!!

If you are not one the converts yet, you certainly have seen us wandering around with our faces staring at that 3-inch screen and pecking away with our index fingers like a goldfinch enjoying his breakfast of thistle. We must be a strange looking community, and anytime you bump into another iPod Touch/iPhone junkie, the conversation always leads to...."what's your favorite app?"

For me its a simple one: the map. I know that doesn't sound very exciting. In fact, it came with my iPhone so everybody already has it, but it has been my best friend on more than one occasion.

During the summer months, I try to spend as much time as possible on my bike. There is something fun and therapeutic about riding through quiet country roads in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately, this tranquility is eventually interrupted with  "uh....... where the heck am I?" In times like this playing Angry Birds or listening to Pandora isn't going to help me find my way back home in time for dinner.

Thankfully, that simple little map has been my savior on more than one occasion. Not only can I find my way home without a trail of breadcrumbs, but I've discovered some new roads to explore the next time I hop on my two wheels.

Don't get me wrong. I have spent many hours enjoying all the fun the iPod touch and iPhone have to offer, but without that map I'd still be lost in the woods.
