I like a good bargain as much as the next person, especially when it comes to designer fashion and shoes. Most of my big steals I’ve stumbled upon by accident. For instance, one time we took a spontaneous trip to the Pottery Barn outlet in Lancaster and we scored a brand-new, still-in-the-box dresser marked down from $700 to $75! And my most recent find, the one that still brings a big smile to my face, happened earlier this year during a trip to Paris.

Did you know that stores only hold sales twice a year in Paris? I didn’t, and I had no clue that our trip to Paris was at the same time as the big winter “soldes” (sale in French). On our first day in Paris many stores were closed. I asked the concierge at our hotel why and he explained that the next day was the beginning of the six-week winter sale. All of Paris heads out to shop ‘til they drop and the stores prepare for the masses. My plan was to head to the most fashionable street in Paris, the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, and take a look. As we made our way down the street I spotted a line of people waiting outside the Christian Louboutin store. Despite my husband’s pleas to keep going, I was curious to see what everyone was waiting for. We waited in line for 30 minutes before we were allowed in the store, and let me tell you, it was worth the wait! I scored two pairs of current-season Louboutins for half off!

You also have the opportunity to score designer shoes for half off and no passport or trip to Paris is required. All you have to do is tune in on Thursday, October 22nd from 6PM - 9PM ET for the "FFANY Shoes on Sale" event. During the event, designer shoes will be sold for half the manufacturer’s suggested retail price* with the net proceeds benefiting breast cancer research and education.

Of course I’m thrilled to buy designer shoes for less, but more importantly, I’m helping women like my Aunt Mae, who is a breast cancer survivor. I’m helping to contribute to vital research that may prevent the deaths of women like my best friend’s mother, Geraldine, to breast cancer.

I encourage you to support the cause by making a purchase this month. Even if you don’t find a style that speaks to you, consider making a purchase for your best friend, sister, daughter, or mother. Shop designer styles and support a great cause.

See you at the sale racks!
