Vitamix Recipe: Clam Bisque Provencal

I wanted to try something new! So I decided to make a clam bisque recipe with my Vitamix! It was absolutely delicious and perfect for a cold, winter day. 



  • 2 1/2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 medium onion
  • 3 1/2 ounces chopped 1 stalk celery
  • 1 small carrot, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons tomato pace
  • 8 ounces clam meat 
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3/4 cup dry white wine
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy whipping cream
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste 



1. Saute chopped onion, celery, carrot, and garlic in olive oil until soft. 




2. Add clam meat, water, wine, and herbs and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes.

3. Remove bay leaf, add cream and let soup cool 5 minutes.




4. Add soup mixture to the Vitamix countainer and secure lid. 

5. Select low speed.

6. Turn machine on and then switch to high speed. 

7. Blend 2 minutes or until smooth.

8. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

It sounds pretty good!  Can it be made without Vitamix, for example a regular blender?
