Thought I’d share some unseen pics from our summer vacation, which I’m calling unlikely because it was supposed to involve a trip to Bermuda, an anniversary gift to ourselves. But I was having ear trouble and got a big ban from flying and when we were grounded, we had to get creative. And here’s where our creativity led us…

St Michaels, Maryland

On the Chesapeake Bay, or an inlet attached to it, right across from DC and Annapolis. Decided we would try something new since most folks out our way near Philly drive to the shore, aka New Jersey beaches. I found a darling inn which I do delightfully recommend, The Inn at Perry Cabin. It’s where scenes from The Wedding Crashers, were filmed. It’s also where among others, given it’s proximity to DC, British PM Margaret Thatcher has stayed. What a treat this place was. Oh the views…

In honor of our Anniversary (back in April) libationas were awaiting us in the room...

And then we were off to a sunset sail…oh c’mon, this must be a dream.

 

This is crab country. They fish em', crack em', eat em'…there's an eatery on the water fittingly called the Crab Claw. A positively darling village with period homes and shops is the perfect stroll. Theo’s is killer for an amazing burger…Bistro is beyond tasty for something a bit more refined. And don’t you know, as I was shopping for a baby gift for a friend, look who I ran into. Susan who owns The Plaid Zebra, a little children shop. She’s a QVC super-fan. I cracked up. See her GILI clutch, QVC readers, and Ultrafine QVC silver necklace? 

Washington DC

Next up, a day trip into the heart of America…I love this town. Makes me want to work in politics. It was sweltering hot. We visited the Holocaust Museum, the Air & Space, walked to the Capitol and the White House (I can’t believe how close you can get to it)…and Joe loves taking those double decker bus tours so, yup, did that too.

 

NYC!!

I love NYC and it was our next stop. The Baccarat Hotel. You have to, I mean, you just have to. Again, a splurge, not cheap, but I don’t buy jewelry like some women. Instead, I save up my moola for amazing hotels. While there, something I have been wanting to do for a long time…visit my dear friend Laura Gellar and see her new extraordinary apartment. We had cocktails, met her son Daniel, and just did not want to leave when the night was over.

Andalusia, PA.

The final stop, back home to Philly for a special occasion. My dearest friend Maria who brings you Calista Tools, got married. It was outdoors, wildly romantic, and like most weddings, made a few of us cry. Good friends, true love…they're special things. The weather was exceptional, and the guest list quite familiar. HA! You don’t say, look at all those QVC babes. Lots of QVC hosts, tons of special touches, and the BEST wedding food I have ever had. Period.

What an unlikely vacation which turned out to be one of my favorites. #blessed. Hoping your summer brings relaxation, surprises, and some special memories too.
