The Time Flies This Time of Year!

Hello my Mackie friends!

The time really flies this time of year! How has your holiday season been so far? Is all of your Halloween candy gone now? Tyler, Coco and Ian have been whittling down the pile. We actually keep the buckets in a locked cabinet so that they don’t over indulge all in one sitting. Every day they get to pull out the bucket and choose their treats: one for a snack at school and one for after dinner. It’s always a great production in choosing which one to have.

I have these photos to share of them in their costumes:

My children's Halloween costumes!

We were very fortunate that the weather cleared just in time to make the rounds in the neighborhood. My thoughts continue to go out to all those who were not able to enjoy as much due to the post-Sandy devastation. Hopefully most of you who were affected have life back to normal.

How was your Thanksgiving? Did you enjoy turkey and all the trimmings? There is nothing like a Thanksgiving meal! And the leftovers are even better, right? We all have our many ways of enjoying this holiday, but with the word “thanks” in the title, I am sure we all have something to be particularly thankful for. I am thankful for my husband and children who make me smile and give me purpose every day.

My family

My family and I spent the holiday in New York City to attend the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I actually participated as a balloon handler for the Elf on the Shelf balloon.

At the parade!

What a great experience! It was so much fun to share that experience with my friends and family.

Hopefully you got to do some shopping Thanksgiving weekend and scored some great deals! It’s nearly the end of 2012, and we are all busy with festivities and planning for the December holidays. Remember, the easiest way to shop is with QVC. You will always find great values on quality items and, best of all, QVC makes it so convenient!

As you’re preparing for the holidays and the parties you’ll be attending, you may be wondering what to wear. There is a lot of travelling, celebrating, and eating going on during this time. We need to think fashionably, but practically. Comfort is key, especially if you are hosting.

I suggest wearing a pair of pants or a skirt with an elastic or generous waistband. This is not the best time to strap on your skinny jeans! I will be wearing a sweater that sits out over my pants…just to conceal any bulges that pop up Smile Here are a few nice choices from Bob Mackie’s Wearable Art line that will not only fit the bill but also will offer tons of compliments and conversation.

The subtle print offers a gorgeous texture as the colors graduate in that beautiful ombre motif. It’s a terrific choice for comfort courtesy of a generous cut and the flowing drape of the crepe-like polyester fabrication, and a perfect selection thanks to the finished hem. Have fun with the many ways you can wear the matching scarf! There are 5 fabulous colors to choose from: purple, grey, green, brown, and red, which I would recommend to go with…

This is the cranberry choice. Think about picking up more than one for an S&H discount because these also come in grey and black, two essential colors for mixing and matching. The fabric content is dynamite: 81% polyester, which has a nice weight and is easy to care for; 16% rayon, to give a more upscale finish to the fabric; and 3% spandex, to give that ideal amount of stretch! The flat, elastic waistband creates a sleek finish, so you just pull them on and go! How nice!

You can grab these and so much more from the Bob Mackie Wearable Art collection on QVC.com. When you are there, don’t forget to shop for the ladies on your holiday gift list. I will be offering you some gift ideas in my next blog.
