For the past year I’ve been working around the clock with my team at Wanderland, building a brand new beauty experience, and it’s coming to you in just a few days! Follow us on Instagram, @Wander_Beauty, to be in the know about our air date.  So much time, thought, and passion has gone into developing our On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator, our innovative multi-tasking and internationally inspired launch product. Before I tell you more, I want to give you an exclusive behind the scenes look at my experience building Wander Beauty, the newest cosmetic line to hit shelves at QVC!

Ten years of modeling has given me an education in beauty. I like to call it makeup school, but I've also learned so much more. From lighting, to style trends, editing, shooting tutorials, the list goes on and on. I still haven't mastered styling my hair yet, I'll leave that to Chaz Dean.  For our shoot, not only was I the face of the campaign, I was the producer, stylist, and creative director.  I had such a blast being so involved in the creative process, it was a great success and I'm already brainstorming for the next one.

As Co-founder and Creative Director of Wander Beauty, one of my many responsibilities is to cast all the models for our website. After modeling for 10 years it was a little funny to see the tables turned.  Here I am at Fenton Agency, owned by Wendy Levene, who happened to be my first agent when I started modeling in Los Angeles.  We had a line of gorgeous girls out the door wanting to work with us.  It was incredible - I wish I could have hired them all!

At Wander Beauty we are very passionate about our multiethnic approach to beauty.  I chose girls with a range of skin tones, from porcelain to deep, who represent a variety of ethnicities and show how universally flattering our shades are.  Our goal is to make all women feel confident and beautiful and create products they will love.  

As Creative Director, I also get to play and experiment with color and develop the perfect shades for all of our customers. It’s one of my favorite parts of the job. Our On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator duo stick comes in two shades, Coral Rose and Soft Pink.  Inspired by my years of traveling the world, every product we develop has a special story.  I started my career in Paris and would often spend time working and playing in St. Tropez.  Our Coral Rose blush is inspired by the breathtaking sunsets, the various shades of coral in the village and the gorgeous sun-kissed women.

Our Soft Pink blush is inspired by many of the fashion shows I did in the beginning of my career, like Dior, Chanel, and Lanvin.  It was a phase in the fashion industry when the “doll look” was popular.  Many of the top models had large eyes and delicate features.  I remember makeup artists applying a healthy flush of color to our cheeks and little else. By the way, this trend has made a come back with the popular “no-makeup, makeup” look.

As promised, here’s a little more about our launch product. Our On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator is the ultimate multitasker with at least 10 ways to wear it! In fact, last year on my honeymoon, as far as makeup goes, all I packed was this and a mascara and I was set. The blush delivers natural color to lips and cheeks, while the highlighter adds beautiful sheen and dimension to your face and body.  This dual sided stick allows for transportability and easy, on-the-go touch-ups.  Illustration by Calla O'Malley  @ThePaletteBlog.
