The Best Halloween Ever

I’ve always loved Halloween! Once my girls were born we decided to go back to the neighborhood where I grew up.  My dad would make a big pot of meatballs and we would recreate the magic I remembered when I was small.  These are memories we just treasure.

After my Dad passed away, we knew that Halloween would be especially hard, even more so since his birthday was Oct. 29th and we always did a Halloween theme with him.  He even told me to take the girls away the first year he wouldn’t be with us.  So when a special discount arrived for Halloween in Disney World in 2009, we knew that was our sign to go.  We went, celebrated the love of our Rudy, and knew that even though it would never be the same, we were making new memories.

Last year we were able to go back to Disney World for Halloween.  I was inspired by the creative costumes I had seen a few years back, and was racking my brain to come up with something new!  It also had to fit three girls and a boy, another challenge.  And then it hit me!  If you have ever been on the Tower of Terror ride, there is a video that plays in the beginning of the ride.  It tells the story of the people who were in the elevator on that “fateful night.”  A bellhop, a movie star, a child actress and her nanny: perfect!! We worked on costumes (mine actually came right out of my closet) and headed to the Magic Kingdom.

The best part of the night was when several cast members told us they had never seen anyone do the costumes before and they were the most creative!!  We had the best night ever, and as we sat on Main Street, waiting for the Headless Horseman to gallop by, I knew my Dad was smiling with us!
